SICK! Sick sick sick.

Not terribly sick, actually. I'm just sniffling and coughing like a deranged monkey with a cold would. The weather is mad. One moment the sun will be beating you down, hot-freezing the air so that no tree will be moving and every hair of yours will be in place, getting frizzier by the minute (popping like popcorn, maybe?) and the next moment will see you shivering and wishing you brought a jacket out with you while you watch branches sway violently, and sometimes a branch or two quit hanging on for dear life and fall right of its tree. How...thrilling.

Time to go to the clinic! Persuaded Jay to take half the day off, so that I'll have company while grocery shopping. Baking apple pie for tmr's family gathering! Jay's side of the family. I suppose I'm in the mood to impress more than I already have. Haha. That is, provided the apple pie doesn't suck horribly.

Let you know how the pie turns out, and if it's any decent, I'll put the recipe up. :-D

:-D

--------------------------------------------------------------

After recently shedding a couple of kilos, I have only ONE pair of jeans that fit me well. Okay, I just got one(that cost a teeeny bit more than my usual ones cos hopefully, it doesn't expand madly like the last one did) from Century Square last night, and now there're TWO. But that's still a slightly sad state of affairs, especially since I wear jeans most of the time, even to work. I can choose to wear shorts to work, but I'd prefer not to wobble all over the centre.

Jay got me a dress on Sunday! It's pretty and superbly feminine. I LOVE IT, and will be wearing it this Saturday, so I'll put up a picture of it. With me in it, ofcos.

I feel a wee bit bimbotic, blogging about clothes. Maybe I shld move on to more intelligent or perhaps masculine topics, to demonstrate total un-bimbotism?

Naaaaah.

But I DO wanna mention that I'm going for the Beerfest Asia 2009 this Friday, cos I'm fantastically excited about it! Jay's friends are a bunch of whackjobs. So charming. And they exude even more charm when under influence of intoxicating substances. So, YAY!! Saturday's time with Venga and Nantha. Sunday's family day!

I'm so blessed. (Touchwood.) Things aren't smooth, but they're good. There are so many adversities happening around me, yet my journeys are beautiful, tho rocky. The little endings should be just as good, I hope.

Despo teenagers. How irritating.

Me : Good afternoon.
Him: Hello, can I speak to Agnes Ching?
Me : There's no such person working here.
Him: No Agnes there ah?
Me : No.
Him: She was there last week.
Me : Agnes was here last week?
Him: Yah...umm...can you give me her number?
Me : May I know where you're calling from?
Him: I'm calling from...er...Hougang.
Me : Okaaaay. May I have your name, please?
Him: Errr. Errrrrrrrr...
Me : Who are you?!
Him: Uh...I am Ryan.
Me : Okay. What do you need her number for?
Him: I need to call her...to tell her something.
Me : Oh. I can't give you her number. Cos I dunno who you're taking about.
Him: You cannot give me her number because you dunno who?
Me : Yah. I dunno who Agnes is, so I cannot give you her number.
Him: Oh...what's your name?
Me : I'm Dhanya.
Him: Yoursdhanya?
Me : I. AM. Dhanya.
Him: Oh...can I have your number?
Me : MY number?
Him: Ok ok nvm...YOU'RE HOT! Bye!

3 min later,

Me : Good afternoon.
Him No.2: I am Haaa..haaa...HALIM. Can I have Agnes' number?
Me : (audible sigh) Your friend called just now. There is no Agnes.
Him No.2: Oh oh. Ok ok. Bye bye.
Me : Bye.

Who the fuck is this Agnes?

I, the righteous.

The 4D queue was long on Sunday, and I HAD to stand in it cos my brother-in-law (the huge, tattooed, and hairy one) wanted his numbers bought. Worth $47, and that too lent some seriousness and necessity to the whole thing. So yeah, I was standing in line, and was just about 3 ppl away from the counter when this big middle-aged indian guy approaches me with his 4D slip and some cash, asking me to buy his numbers for him. I took a look at the looong string of ppl behind me. Wanna know what I said wanna know what I said wanna know what I said?

"Oh. I don't think it's fair."

I know. I'm bloody amazed myself. Think what, I indian, you indian, so I do you a favour is it? You wait long long (literally)!

I, the lucky.

Struck consolation prize, which's $60. My brother-in-law told me to redeem it, and keep the change, which means the 4D tickets paid for themselves with $13 to spare, which's for me. Yay me!

I, the not-so-lucky.

I had no time to collect the cash cos of work and all, so I passed it to my mom to redeem for me. The winning ticket(which's of carbon paper) got crumpled a little, and my dear daddy felt it necessary to iron the damned thing. He placed 3 layers of cloth over it. And ironed.

Bye bye, 60 bucks. Most saddeningly, bye bye $47 invested in absolute SHIT!!

New skin! Isn't it strange? I quite like it.

Yes, I AM bored.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

My blog is worth $564.54.
How much is your blog worth?

And I don't get why. Twinnie's is worth $0.00. Now that's just unfair and ridiculously untrue.

*pouts bimbotically for no particular reason*

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

My twinnie.

Me : Eh, maybe you can get a rabbit. (cos she wanted a dog, but cldn't keep one)
Her: For what?
Me : They are cute what.
Her: But rabbits shit alot.
Me : As opposed to the shitless dog?

---------------------------------------

This is how my twinnie is when she's going to sleep and she can't stop yakking even if there's noone around:

Her: I suppose I should get into bed now.
Her: I should stop talking to myself and go to sleep.
Her: Okay.
Her: I saaaaiiiid, stop talking to yourself and go to sleep!
Her: Yeah okaaaaay!

---------------------------------------

Kevin and I arranged a surprise birthday celebration of sorts for Jay and El (who's birthday fell on the 14th) last Friday at The Dubliner(I quite like that place. So cosy, and the staff are very friendly and accomodating). One chocolate brownie cake and one coffee brownie cake, both covered in chocolate sauce with a 'J' on one and an 'E' on the other spelt out with coloured Hershey's Kisses! I had fun baking those. And I had even more fun planning the surprise! Jay loved it all, and I could see that he was touched.

YAY!

Oh oh oh, don't bother planning a surprise if you're a M1 subcriber. Kevin got my messages about 1) placing the candles in a certain hiding place I suggested 2) the candles??!?! 3) me going to the loo to have the candles passed to me ONLY THE NEXT DAY. Good thing he needed to pee and had to make his way to the loo. Or I might have smashed the cakes on his face at the stroke of 12.

Anyways, all that sneaking around and sending meaningful looks and twisting of words were bloody entertaining! Here're a few examples:

A week before his birthday;

Me : That day, when you were playing with my phone, did you have a look at my inbox?
Jay: Ah? No lah. Why?
Me : Okay. Nothing. =)
Jay: Why why? What? Why?
Me : Nothing laaaah. I might be having an affair. :-D
Jay: -_-

And, at the celebration itself, before the cake and party hats were brought out;

El: Where are the hats?
Me: What about the hats?
El: The hats?
Me: What hats? There are no hats.
El: I thought got hats?
Me: Where's your hat?
El: Not wearing it today.
Me: Then there's no hat. There are no hats.

I wanna plan a surprise party again! And I will be, soon. But you won't know it's for you. Cos it's a surprise, DUH. But you're definitely gonna have a shitload of fun! :-D

*rides into the night in a very mysterious, hopefully seductive manner*

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

I wanna blog! Then I should, right? Right.

I'm about to leave my job. Been with this company a bit more than a year, and I'm actually alright staying if not for the fact that it'll be a complete bitch travelling all the way to queenstown from frikkin changi coast for classes after work. As it is, I'm quite sick of travelling to work from home(ang mo kio) everyday. I swear I'll end up cabbing down every single school day. Let's consider the (HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, ABSOLUTELY SHITTY) peak hour surchage. $30 per trip x 2 trips/week x 4 weeks = $240/month.

BLOODY HELL.

Goodbye, Changi Coast Walk! I'll miss you. Already do, infact. The sunsets are stunning, and the sea always looks magnificent. In the mornings and evenings, sunlight streams through the trees that line our road and I tell you, you'd wish you had a camera. Nature's kodak moment. Haha.

Y'know, I don't normally discuss this with people much, but I personally think that god's everything that is nature, and nature is everything that is god, which in turn has everything to do with us. But I have no idea why we were created. The end of the world is apparently near, according to many belief systems. I wonder if it's true. If it is, were we made, only to be destroyed? What for? Is there some reset button somewhere? Should I have kids?

This is bugging me man. If the world is gonna end, we should be notified. It's the least we could ask for, since we're working so hard to get stuff done which are gonna matter shit when the 'button' gets pressed.

That reminds me; I should probably get back to work. I'll be leaving at the end of April. If you guys know any place that's hiring, pls let me know? I assume there's still some time left before we all die.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Hello there. I was just wondering. Could you get any more boring? No, honestly, can you?

Hmm. Maybe I'm just bored.

I'm probably bored.

Friday, February 20, 2009

I'm baking chocolate brownies next weekend! Who wants some? I'm in the mood to produce a few batches of them. Jay, Twinnie, Venga, Nantha, Kay & Esther are on the list. NazzyNadhen, you want brownies too? Rest of you, don't be shy, just ask! I sure give you one.

'Dhanya' means generosity and abundance in Sanskrit. So don't get all suspicious at my show of niceness.

---------------------------------------

Twinnie and I have been chatting online since morning, and we were bored earlier. No wait, we are bored. So so bored. Anyways, be warned that the conversation's long, and you don't have to read it just cos you're my friend, that is, if you are my friend.

°· her royal freshness ·° says:

Scarlet Starlet says:
No it isn't. it's just something our parents used to say in order to get us to shut up

Scarlet Starlet says:
patience is as much a virtue as ants are good for your eyes

Scarlet Starlet says:
the truth of the statement is inversely proportionate to how full of shit a parent is.

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
my ass ah. patience makes us better people ah. umm....generally

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
ooo you call your mother what?!

Scarlet Starlet says:
patience makes one a doormat.

Scarlet Starlet says:
though that is relative

Scarlet Starlet says:
depends on who you're being patient WITH

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
no it doesn't. doormatism makes one a doormat. patience is good for the mental and maybe even physical health, considering you feel a sense of peace and okayness with waiting when waiting is necessary

I must agree with you on your last statement

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
*nods*

Scarlet Starlet says:

Scarlet Starlet says:
i just lost one of the little rubber backing thingies on my dorothy perkins earrings

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
steal an eraser from your desk!

Scarlet Starlet says:
how the hell do you suppose i can steal from myself and get away with it?

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
just try not to think about karma

Scarlet Starlet says:
and literally turn the other way or close one eye?

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
take the eraser, place in within easy reach on the table, turn behind, and grab it

Scarlet Starlet says:
and also, is it bad karma if i steal from myself and I, as the thief AND the owner, am okay with it?

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
this is like Bruce Wayne stealing from his own company!

Scarlet Starlet says:
exactly

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
and he became Batman.

Scarlet Starlet says:
with no soon-to-be-Riddler popping up trying to expose me.

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
mmm. maybe the karma's good?

Scarlet Starlet says:
the karma will be good if the stealing is used for the good of mankind and not for personal gain

Scarlet Starlet says:
somehow, i believe this theft is more for personal gain than for the good of mankind.

Scarlet Starlet says:
therefore, this theft will only result in me incurring bad karma.

Scarlet Starlet says:
so i shall not steal my own eraser!

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
noooo. noone wants to look at your earholes. so holey.

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
they'll want you to cover them up. so, good karma!

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
steal that thing!

Scarlet Starlet says:
but i can wear them without the backing also la. and i definitely won't lose them cos the earrings are so heavy, i'll notice if they fall off.

Scarlet Starlet says:
they're hooks anyway

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
adachai(umm...bleurgh?). talk so long for nothing

°· her royal freshness ·° says:
boo you and your earrings!

Feel tortured? Think you deserve to be paid for having read that? That can be arranged, y'know. I pay with brownies! Again, don't be shy! If you don't wanna leave a tag, email me! It's free anyway!

Don’t you ever wish you were someone else,
You were meant to be the way you are exactly.
Don’t you ever say you don’t like the way you are.
When you learn to love yourself, you’re better off by far.
And I hope you always stay the same,
Coz there’s nothing 'bout you I would change.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I don't think it matters that it's the most commercialised celebration after Christmas; it's just an excuse to celebrate with ppl you love. Jay and I have chosen to spend the day in each others' company which sounds good to me even though we have no idea what we're gonna do. Oh oh, he made me a sweet little card. :-D

Hope you have a good one! I'm sure you know that you don't need to be attached to. *winks*

Got tagged to do this on Facebook. Since I spent a whole half of an hour on it, I might as well post it here.

Rules: Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you.

1 . I have a love-hate relationship with the photocopier.
2 . I'm having coffee in a teachers' day mug my sister got in 2002.
3 . My sister's a teacher.
4 . Every adult in my family is married, including me.
5 . I'm not so sure about the 'adult' part, actually.
6 . I prefer black pens to blue.
7 . I love procastinating, but try my best not to do it when it's best not to.
8 . I smile at strangers sometimes.
9 . I ALWAYS wake up later than I shld.
10. Trying a new recipe gives me a rush.
11. I promised Jay I'll nvr drink when I'm alone at home and I wish I'd crossed my fingers.
12. I don't give a damn what most ppl think of me as long as I know I'm ok.
13. Also, I don't give a damn what ppl think of me as long as I don't look ugly.
14. I think ppl who think I'm smart probably don't know any better.
15. I think ppl who think I'm dumb lack basic human intelligence, which in turn narrows their minds.
17. I'm aware of the contradictions I make and I savour them.
16. I refuse to make an effort to read the papers. News that's important enough will reach me in other ways.
17. I crack my toe-knuckles alot.
18. I've had a pedicure only once.
19. My wedding gown is still waiting to be sent for dry-cleaning.
20. I love Jay.
21. I like scissors and sharp knives.
22. I sometimes cry at breathtakingly beautiful sunsets.
23. I love cardigans and sweaters.
24. The Kinks (1960s) is my favourite musical group.
25. I hate bad customer service.

Time for lunch. Toodles!

(Applause for Venga's very first quotable quote, please!)

Venga had his male friend over at his place while nobody else was home. I gave him a call to settle some plans and got to hear them both having their own brand of fun. Little did I know what sorta fun they had till unfortunately, I phoned him again.

Me: Eh, why's your voice like that?
V : My voice ah? Mmm...drank ice water lah. Ahem ahem. Actually I feel like there's something in my throat. Ahem.
Me: *uncomfortable silence*
V : (10 seconds later) NO! No no no no no, it's not what you think!
Me: Omg...
V : No no no!

Did you hear? My contacts are in the toilet. Cos my phone dropped into the toilet bowl. I was expecting an urgent call from work in the morning, and had to have the phone on the cistern. It vibrated off it, and landed into the bowl. I was initially unsure as to where it fell cos I can't see nuts without my glasses, when I heard a gentle 'BLOP' from you-know-where.

Pls sms me your numbers. =(

Karma works at an alarming speed sometimes. Here's proof:

On a late Saturday morning surrounded by little swimming students, Nazz was feeling quite pissed off at something (the nature of which doesn't come to mind right now). She decided to pick up a rubber band and shoot it into the clear, innocent pool, after which she hurled some obscenities into the air, and proceeded to settle herself down.

Half an hour later, a very familiar-looking piece of rubber violently bounces off her right eyebrow. The pool spit at her.

Non-karma-believers, you know nothing.

Oh, and did you know that when Nazz gets shocked, she makes this squeaky noise that sounds like a dying squid?

This is gonna be a bimbo post. Read at your own eye-rolling risk.

It sucks that I've lost more weight AFTER the wedding. Have you had a look at the pictures? If you've not, DON'T. My arms look big enough to produce baby arms of their own.

My hair wasn't at its best on that day either. The back of it was quite frizzy, and my curls had decided to bastard me and were half-assed. On normal days they choose to be thick and sometimes bouncy, but on my wedding day, they went as limp as Mas Selamat's walk. I don't get it. Anyways, the hair's got more defined curls now cos I got it permed (I know, perming curly hair sounds redundant, but it does make you less hair-mood-dependent) and so, it looks alright from all angles.

My make-up was ok. Did it myself, and it looked pretty nice till an hour into the event, which was when I needed a touch-up, but didn't have time for it. As a result, light was shining off my oily under-eyes in the pics. Oh, and I'd been searching for the perfect shade of matte lipstick weeks before but couldn't find it. =(

I wanna wear my gown and do it all over again! Too bad a white gown has no part to play in a traditional hindu wedding. There is the photoshoot to look forward to, I guess. And with the help of photoshop, Jay and I will look btr than normal. I will have to make sure the image editor doesn't make us look too flawless, tho. I notice that many times, it's overdone. The faces are made too glowy and evenly toned, helping the couple achieving a ghostly appearance. As interesting as that sounds, I would prefer to look human instead. I hope to have my arms toned by then (and I will!) so that no 'magic' would have to be done to them to make them look smaller. I have modelling ethics. Ahem.

Is a photoshoot for the wedding neccessary tho? I don't think it is, y'know. There really is no actual need for it, especially since it costs a few thousands and that money can be used to install pretty fixtures or buy new furniture for the new home. But Jay wants a photoshoot (which is weird cos I'm the vain, camwhoring one), so I'm looking forward to it with more than a teeny bit of excitement. Hope we can do some shots in natural surroundings! Maybe in a quaint little cafe too. That'll look sweet.

Ok, my bimbotic burst is over.

Drinks with Sha later. Yay!

I can't bring myself to finish up the work I brought home. It's this powerpoint presentation on the eco system around my adventure centre and I'm finishing up the part about trees. The types of trees we have, their uses, origins, and such. I'm up at 3am on a Friday morning doing a report on TREES.

Kill me.

Pls be sure to get the nail polish off my toes when you're done, tho. I heard nails continue growing on a body a while after it's dead. Wldn't wanna have my nails looking bad. Oh, I like white flowers.

And now my mind wanders a little gravely into the topic of death. Obviously, I'm thinking of my own. Trying to imagine how it'll affect the ppl around me. Do you do that too? It's a sick habit, but I get a kick out of it. It's for sure that there'll be a number of unhappy ppl (since I'm a joy to be around), so I suppose my twisted musings make me feel more loved than I already do. What I hate to speculate on is what the death of others will do to me, cos once I get really into it, I'll start tearing, and there goes my mood for the next hour.

Argh. So stupid!

Shit. This sucks. Trees momentarily suck. Thanks for the oxygen and wood and helping us stay alive and all but really, must there be so many different kinds of you? Wait, you're God's innocent and voiceless creation. I'm not in the position to criticize you, even if for a while. Humans suck. Always seeking knowledge and anally wanting more more more. Didn't Cate Blanchett's character in the latest Indiana Jones movie receive too much knowledge and physically burst into smithereens? Or something?

I suppose I should go back to doing that damned powerpoint file.

Got tattooed! Finally finally FINALLY.

FINALLY!!!

I decided on an adorable little heart-shape, on the side of my hip. My reasoning for those choices is that my hips are sensitive love-spots, and placing a heart on one would be like, giving directions.

Actually, no.

I just wanted something simple and pretty on a part of my body that I do not want getting any bigger. It'll be a constant reminder to stay clear from excessive carbo. I know that sounds lame, and I fully agree. But oooo, imagine my delight when I (and I will!) realise eons later that my tattoo hasn't stretched much, meaning I've not ballooned! Oh oh, Rachel of FRIENDS got one done at the same spot in one of the earlier seasons. I love FRIENDS. And I kinda like my hips, though they stretch across horizons. So yeah. All that's what my tattoo's for. Nothing deeply meaningful, but quite alright for an impulsive move, I suppose.

Aiyah, I faked an mc one day and wanted to do something with the day so I called my best friend out to get me tattooed lah.

My parents are fantastic; they don't mind at all. And my sister's afraid to touch it! Can't wait to show it to the other 2 sisters and watch their reactions.

Enough yakking. Picture time! My twinnie was most wonderful to document the whole thing with her digicam, and to hold my hand while I winced and did retarded faces.

It began.

"Ooogh." That's twinnie's hand!

Praying-very-hard face.

Prayers-didn't-quite-work face.

Happification. :-D

Nazz: If I had a cock I think my cock will stand. Then go down. Like alive and dead ah.

-------------------------------------------------

New background! Like it? You better do. Cos that's Nantha's picture (thank you for letting me use it!!), and cos it's here to stay for quite a while. And you know you like coming around. My stupid musings are most entertaining, I know. I know I know I know. And I know that that's why I've hit 10,033 visits since 27th September 2007! 2007. Shit, that's way long ago. Maybe I'm not that entertaining.

Thanks for reading anyways. I always tingle with immense pleasure when I come across faithful/not-so-faithful readers. I probably don't know you, but I do appreciate your interest. Unless you hate me. But I know you don't. ;)

Ragani, stop leaving without tagging, you skinny arse.

I better get back to work.

Remnants of Peizhi's meal, artistically transformed by Esther.

Her dad's lorry is such fun!

----------------------------------------

I'm just so, so lazy these days. Any free time I get, I wanna sit down somewhere, and stone. You can blame it on the new swimming term which needs my whole department to work through its January weekends. It. SUCKS. I'm keeping myself happy thinking of the off days I can claim, and of the marvellous smoked salmon pasta dish I had on Saturday and Sunday at CDANS.

Ah, speaking of food. I had the biggest dinner I've had in ages. My colleagues and I headed down to eastern lagoon or some shit like that for dinner, and dishes after dishes AFTER dishes kept magically appearing. The indian muslim food Nazz and I ordered for everyone arrived last, which was received with groans and moans. Oh, and the indian rojak was expensive, but quite good. I now owe myself 7 consecutive days of using the rowing machine. Like that's ever gonna happen.

Bleuurrghhhyaaaawwn.

On account of my tiredness and inability to truly concentrate, I'll now retire before I let you know exactly how broke I am. Oh, my line's been cut. Mail me for my temporary number.
