Did I mention that I'm half-married?

Got a ring on my finger and am officially a Mrs! No thaali yet though; that's late November. Hence the half-marriedness.

It feels nice. I am completely myself, and so is he, and I can't wait to learn more about him, me and us. Our 6 years so far isn't enough and I want more! I also want all the fights; they bring us closer. A little pair of booties and a cot would be nice too :)

The honeymoon will be in Amsterdam and Paris. We're spending tons on this trip, and I truly thank god for advance purchase rates! Still, the total cost is about half our house renovation loan. We have other loans to settle, so technically we are spending money we don't have. Funny how middle/mid-upper class work huh?

Did wedding shopping in India the week before last. Everything was a blur, except for beggars carrying babies and kids in the streets begging me to buy cheap thin books from them. That's the only life they know. I often replay the very clear memory of a boy of not more than 7, trying in vain in the horrid heat to get passersby to buy his wares. He paused a while to bend his forehead down to his sleeve, and rested it there for about 3 seconds. He then hurriedly went back to trying to earn. His tired face is still fresh in my mind.

Fighting back tears in public is a very tough thing to do. I doubt I want to go back, unless it's a necessity to, as a family. It's just as well I didn't pursue social work...I'd probably take work issues home and be the most depressed version of myself.

I don't pray much, but I pray for the young, vulnerable and unprotected.
