Stumbled across a link to this article at Streetdirectory.com, of all places. Was quite interesting, so here. Brace yourself, it's got quite some length.

Is This The One?

Isn't that the million dollar question? How can I tell if this is the one? Is this one my soulmate? How will I know when I find the right one? There is no magic answer, but I can tell you what seems to work. I asked a psychic one time if a certain person was my soulmate. His answer, "If you have to ask, then he's not the one." He went on to explain that with soulmates no matter how good or bad a day you have together, you wake up in the morning knowing without a doubt that this is the one and you go to bed at night knowing without a doubt that this is the one. Nothing that happens in between those two points can change your mind.

Whenever I find happily married couples in their fifties or older who have been married for most of their lives to each other, I always ask them, "How did you know this was the one?" Every single one of the men answered the same way. They all said that the first time they laid eyes on the girl, they knew in that moment that they would eventually propose to her. For every one of those men it was love at first sight. "But why that one? What made you fall in love with that particular woman at first glance?" Each one answers differently, but they all have a vague unanswerable quality that the guy just knew she was it before they even knew what the girl's name was.

The women all said they thought the guy was nice enough, just okay, or a little goofy but not too bad. None of the women fell head over heels right away. The women were all living a happy upbeat life and were not really searching for a husband when the guy came along. That may be a big part of the mystique that these women created. They were not needy nor desperate. Truth be told all of the lifetime happily married women I know are very strong and independent, but loyal and loving women. None of them are nags nor codependent types.

The thing that all of these couples have in common is that the each one was relatively happy and mentally healthy going about their lives, their goals, and their dreams. All of them planned to some day fall in love and get married to one person for life but none were attached to a soulmate type concept or ideal. None of these people were sexually loose but they weren't complete prudes either. They chose not to sleep around because they had a strong sense of self-respect. Some had religious beliefs that added to the dynamic and others did not. All were of a mindset that you simply didn't whore around for the heck of it.

In all cases, the man chased the woman. You have to remember the deep underlying needs of the male and females of our species. The man must hunt and conquer. If she's too easy to catch, then there must be something wrong with her. Right or wrong, men have a very deep down need to 'win' the girl. They were all upbeat, bright, kind, loving women with full happy lives of their own. None of the women were pushovers and none of the women were easy to 'win.' It was always love at first sight on the man's end, but not on the woman's. The women were not cold and unapproachable, so the men were able to charm them and 'win' them over. All of these relationships had at least a two-year courtship and engagement period. Their eyes were wide open when they said, "I do."

Were they soulmates or just lucky? It depends on how you define soulmates. If you define a soulmate as your cosmic twin, then I'd say no these people were very different types that hooked up and stayed happy together for life. In one example, the woman was a devout Catholic and the husband was just sort of generic Christian. She didn't try to convert him and he respected her need to go to mass every Sunday. No, he didn't become any more or less of a Christian then he already was. They each respected the other's right to be who they were. Nobody tried to change anybody. Who they fell in love with is who they stayed in love with. In another example, he was from an extremely conservative religion and she was very lightly Christian. She completely changed her entire way of life to be with him. She gave up makeup, stylish haircuts, jewelry and sexy clothes to become almost Amish in her life with him. She never regretted it because he was everything to her and she came to agree with his family's religious beliefs. In none of the relationships were the couples a twin copy of the other. Yes, every one of those couples struggled in the first years of their marriage to find a balance between 'me' and 'we'. Every one of those couples had to learn to listen, to compromise, to be fully present in the moment, and to show their love in a way that resonated with the other. However, they all managed to live that elusive 'happily ever after' that the rest of us only dream of.

If you define a soulmate as the right one for you, the one you were meant to spend the rest of your life with, the one specially designed to create 'happily ever after' with you, then yes, they were soulmates. No matter how bad things got, these couples never ever contemplated divorce. They didn't stay together because of a vow before God. They stayed together because they couldn't fathom the concept of not loving the other one. Every morning they woke up knowing they were both in love. Every night they went to sleep knowing they were both in love.

The first time I met Jay, I nvr imagined that I'd be with him, let alone be marrying him later. He was like, a friend with a marvy(and at THAT time, witty :-p) sense of humour, very nice arms and eyebrows, and a good ass. And tho I did have a bit of a crush on him, I nvr thought we'd date; until a week later, WHAM; we were dating. And his proposal(if that's what it was. I merely pondered and agreed to a statement he made. man, was I easy!! wahaha) to be his girlfriend caught me by surprise. Yes, we did flirt here and there, but I nvr saw it coming, you get? Was ready for a comfy movie-watching experience with a friend when I suddenly felt his arm arnd me.

God. Still rmbr, I was like "oh my. what do we have here? is this normal? God, does he LIKE me?"

:-D

I entirely agree with this line from the article tho: They stayed together because they couldn't fathom the concept of not loving the other one. It makes so many things so much clearer.

I got a hong bao! Yippee-doodles. :-D

Oh, and I've downloaded Harry Potter's 1-6, and am absolutely loving the first one so far. Nvr felt the need to read the books cos I'd managed to catch most of the movies. Jay told me I cld actually download books via Bit Torrent (he's my Bit.T guru) and so, to give it a try, I searched for Harry Potter. Downloaded it for fun cos it won't take long anyway, and now, I'm addicted! Got to mid Chapter 7 (The Sorting Hat, how I wanna try that on!) but had to stop cos The Mom was all naggety-yak-yak.

Must finish the book today or my head will burst! And that will be no good, considering my appointment with a prospective employer in the evening tmr.

I love ba kwa!

New song, dedicated to Sindhu this time!

She's my heaven... She's a spark... Yeah Yeaah!

Hehehe!

'Tmr' has come a bit late, yah? Hehehe.

Valentine's Day was yesterday! I had a marvy, marvy time. :) Jay got me a Swarovski pendant, a red heart. It's adorable! Oh, and I did him an oil on canvas, a teeny mounted one. Will try get the pics of those from him later.

Dinner was at Safra Yishun, and the place was lovely! The caterers they hired were like, ok lah. The main courses were the best. The soup was terribly bland tho. But tasted good as I had eye candy to ogle at while I sipped at it. *winks at Jay*

This is what couples generally like to do, if you're not in the know. They 'action' about their own partner, even if it sounds nonsensical. Well at least, they do that the first few years of the relationship, I guess.

Oh, and there was a live band at dinner. Entertaining! Especially since one of the singers sang most of his songs like he was trying to get a really stubborn fart to come out. The speakers were way near the table we chose tho, and it was hard to hear each other. We got to speak lots after, so nvm. :-D

Thanks for such a lovely time, chellam. :-D I probably sound like Sindhu saying this, but this's the best Valentine's Day I've ever had. :-p

Jay's got the pictures! Am receiving them! Yay me!!

Ah, today was good too. Went to 2 agencies at International Plaza and the appointments had a few hours of space in between, so I whiled my time away reading at Secret Recipe. The apple cheese cake I had wasn't fantastic; apples could have been baked(if that's how they cooked it) longer cos they weren't soft enough. The cheese was quite light tho. Finished it last cos it was the best part (yumm yumm). Oh, the hot chocolate was good ah! If I weren't broke, I wld have gotten a vanilla latte to go, but oh well, next time. *sniffles*

After the last appointment (there was a japanese guy at the agency and the accent was adoooorable! 'are you buj(s)y on weekdays?'), it was time to meet the Jayster at Somerset. Ok, now I know which building is Centrepoint, so you shut up and don't action ah! Boyfriends. *grumbles* Aaaanyways, we made our way from there to Queensway Shopping Centre to look for this sort of Adidas shoes the Jay's been eyeing. The Watera series or some shit lah. BOOOORING, I tell you. All the shoe stores are the frikkin same. Different music, slightly different layout, marginal price differences, and varied ethnicity of shopkeepers, but it's ALL THE FRIKKIN SAME. Shoes lining the walls. That's it. God. I was ready to stick my earstud in my eye when we finally left.

Oh, and I'll probably be getting a tattoo there. An eye of Ra(most probably), with no embellishments, just primitive and black. $100! Not bad ah? By this year, I'll be tattooed. Wee! And Jay'll be getting his branded X too. Maybe, if we both wanna do it at the same place, we'll go together. Yay us!!

Picture time!

Jay's gift! Love it. Still wearing it too! :-D Dunno what those marks on my skin are tho. Hope they aren't age spots.

And this's the painting I did for Jay! Being oil-based, it's reflecting Jay's cam's flash lots. Looks better in real, but not a very good painting lah(DUH). Oh, those little ppl climbing the hill are Jay and me! We're rushing up the hill to watch the sunset, which is not visible to us as it is hidden by the hill.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Me giving him a freakish stare while having my appetisers. Hate having photographed when I'm eating actually. :-p

By dessert, I'm used to being captured, and so it shows.

Jay's very own piece of installation art.

He got bored waiting for me to finish up.

He insisted on taking one of me and the car, cos this'll probably be the last time I'll see it. he's getting a new car and can't stop talking abt it. :-D

Us!!

The rest of you attached AND single beings, I hope you had a marvy Valentine's Day too. I know I did! :)

P.S: Been meaning to post some photos up, and so, here they are. Might as well do it in one blogpost lah. I'm posting pics as a post script! Wahaha.

Nanio the freak. She's probably in India by now! Oh well, a month more. Can survive lah. :-p

This one cracks me up.

And this! Haha.

Me! I love this one. I'm vain. I know.

Right, that's it for now I guess. Got some more pics to put up, but later. Back aches!

Toodles!

Sha showed me this song few days ago saying she's driving ppl mad with it. I was initially like oh... yeah, interesting. But now I'm all weeeeeee! It's grown on me too.

Note to the exceptionally stupid: Wait till my background song is done playing before you click play on the video image below. Or, press the stop button on your browser for my background sound to cease playing, and go on to play the video. Yes, like that. Good.

New song, and it's dedicated to Sashi-Sushi!

My phone's temporarily dead on account of having no battery power. I know for a fact that there'll be at least 3 calls missed, but what the heck. If there really is something I need to know, I can be enlightened later.

Sick of carrying a phone, actually. Being constantly contactable irritates the shit outta me sometimes. Then again, having a mobile line allows me a lot of conveniences that I currently cannot do without, especially since I'm on the lookout for a job. Besides, my mom'll freak if she can't nag at me whenever she feels the need to.

A whole week with no work. One whooole week; absolutely unemployed. Crappy-doodle-doo, I really need a job. Bah.

Deadline: End of next week. Realistic? I hope so.

Changed my song! It's hindi and so, I am absolutely clueless as to what it says. Did watch the movie on TV sometime back tho, and the lyrics, translated, were lovey dovey, poetic, touching, etc etc.

And I love the song, somehow! I dedicate to Jay ah. :-D

I suppose I shld blog. But what about?

Friday's my last day at the workplace. CAN YOU SAY YAY?

I'm gonna miss the malay food stall and the free milo tho.

I love dragonfruit. It's absolutely beautiful. I love it even when it isn't sweet.

Bills, bills, bills.

My mom apologised! Nice. :) I acted all huffy tho. But then she asked me if I loved her and I had to say yes. :-D

My 2nd sister's 5 months or so along now, and we just found out that it's another boy. She was a little disappointed cos her husband's been wanting a girl, and therefore he's a temporarily a little disappointed too, but what the heck, it's another lovely child all the same!

Oh, and my 3rd sister's expecting now too. YAY-ness. :-D

I can't wait to have one of my own. Well actually... I can wait... but still, I can't wait. You get? You don't. Oh well.

I like big butts and I cannot lie.

Have I mentioned, Ragani's left for Aussieland? That was very early this month. She had some trouble with a place to stay first, but now she's way better. Doing fantastic, in fact. *winks like a deranged monkey*

My dad told me that years ago, it was allowed in Singapore to cut open a drugged monkey's skull and drink it's brain juices while it's still alive. And the animal will be tearing. It's banned now and I'm sure a lot of us thank god for it, but damn those assholes who did it man. Hope it's not still practised in secret.

Everybody Loves Raymond! It's on, and I must go.

Toodles!

Been a long time since I last posted one of these. Been refraining from it, but I knew I had to do it once again, upon reading this baby here:

I turn on my computer, I wait impatiently as it boots up. I go online, and my breath catches in my chest. I hear nothing, not even a sound on the streets of my neighbourhood, just the beat of my own heart, looking at your picture, a humble request, Can i get to know you betta?

Only word I cld think of- Amazing.

We shld compile all weird friendster msges and publish a book. I'll be able to get new shoes with the money. Who's in?

HAPPY 2007, babies!!!

May we all be blessed with health, wealth, love, etc etc, yadda yadda.

I had a marvy time with Jay, Nan, her pretty friend Nareen and a few other lovelies; i.e; Suchita. But she was with another group of buds lah. Oh, Jeevitha came! With her bf. :-D OH, and Sindhu and Patrick look SO SWEET together! Too bad they didn't join us. Oh well, heard they had a great time nonetheless. *winks* Don't have pics that were taken at O Bar itself, but have ones that were taken on the way there. With Nan!

Yes, yes, I've put on weight. Shut it.

Lady-lovin!

Close up. Too much rouge I know; I was in a hurry cos Jay was waiting.

Will post the other pics when I get them. Provided they are good, that is. Must go! Brother-in-law wants to see the video of Saddam's hanging. Finally! He deserves that, and much more.

Toodles!

Job-searching is such a tiring process. The next few days (hopefully not many), my most visited website will be JobsDB. Oh, JobStreet too. I'm updating my resume now, which is actually the easiest part of job-hunting. Why? Cos I don't have much to write abt! For now at least.

Will be going over to Yishun later. My sister's invited to this R.O.M party and she has no idea what sorta hairstyle to wear and needs help with her eye make-up. Me to the rescue! I will get to see Baby too, which works as a very good pulled-to-Yishun-factor.

Chong Pang hawker food for dinner, with Jay! The lovely, and the lovelier. Oh wait, the loveliEST! Hehe. :-D

One of my birthday gifts(from the aforementioned sister) were Delifrance vouchers. I always have them in my bag, just in case I feel like some soup and garlic bread. Wld be marvy with the rainy weather. Mmm... *tastebuds tingle*

They're showing Rhythm on SunTV now! Omg, I so do not want to leave for Yishun so soon! BLEAURGH!! I love the songs in the movie, and I like the movie as a whole. I generally don't like Meena much, but I am certain that she did nicely in Rhythm. And the little boy is sooo adorable. I wanna stay home! Sigh.

I shall now go bathe in misery. Toodles.
My hair is wet. I don't want it to go into stinkland by having it pressed against a pillow. Sigh. Sleepy sleepy.

It feels so beautiful to not have to work on a Saturday. Beautiful. I sure hope it rains 5am onwards; I'll be softly awakened by the pitter-pattering of the rain, and a lazy smile will cross my face as I get lulled back to another bout of uninterrupted sleep. Beautiful. So damned hard to get up and do the bathing and dressing up shit with the whisper of the rain in my ear; "Gooooo baaack to sleeeeep.. to sleeeeeeeep..." When baby stays over, I kiss and cuddle his sleepy form before putting on my make-up. Takes ALL of my willpower to not join him in slumberland.

Oh, and I'm almost always late to work these days. Sigh.

This morning, I was at Bedok mrt station, abt to go down the escalator to the underpass thing that wld lead me out when I heard somebody semi-shout what sounded like my name. Since a lot of stuff are similar to my name when pronounced (come here, am here, the ear, then ya, dumb ya, etc.), I ignored it. It was only when I heard it again, this time louder and clearer and a little familiar, did I turn back and see. All I saw was a blur of colour on the form of a fair girl with long hair. Which means I wasn't wearing my glasses, ofcos. I was still struggling to keep awake and gave my name-caller a really screwed up "WHo ah?" kinda expression. And with the flow of the escalator I went.

As I walked on to my workplace, I started feeling guilty and stupid. Like, imagine how my friend(I'd already established it's a friend i'd probably studied with; it's not like I'm famous) wld have felt. So pai seh, you call somebody and the person don't know you. Something abt her voice was very familiar. And THEN it hit me.

Kit!

She's the only person who pronounces my name the way she does. Dhaan-ya. And so I smsed her and yes, it WAS her! She was amazed I recognised her by her pronunciation. So am I.

One of my sisters is holidaying/business-handling in India. Here's an sms convo from yesterday:

Sister: Hey Dhanya panni(pig in Tamil), Im bored here.cant wait to be back home. anything interesting to tell me?

Me: Umm... Your backside grows a millimeter a week according to scientific research.

Sister: Is it really true? Alamak..Please lah! Tell me sumore.

Me: Not true!! Haha. And then... Are you aware of the existence of seedless watermelons?

Sister: You ULTIMATE WEIRDO!

Hair's dry. Toodles.

P.S: I lou Jay. :-D

First-year students at med school were receiving their first anatomy class with a real dead human body. They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet.

The professor started the class by telling them: "In medicine, it is necessary to have 2 important qualities as a doctor. The first is that you not be disgusted by anything involving the human body." For an example, the Professor pulled back the sheet, stuck his finger in the butt of the corpse, withdrew it and stuck his finger in his mouth..

"Go ahead and do the same thing," he told his students. The students freaked out, hesitated for several minutes, but eventually took turns sticking a finger in the butt of the dead body and
sucking on it. Each one tried his best not to puke. When everyone had finished, the Professor looked at them and told them, "The second most important quality is observation. I stuck in my middle finger and sucked on my index finger. Now learn to pay attention."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

My birthday's in 2 days! Too bad I'll be working. It'll be the very first birthday that I'll be working on, y'know. That's entirely due to the fact that so far I've only done temp stunts at companies. With the exception of now, that is. Actually... I'm on the search for another job, cos I can't be doing shifts when I start on my part-time course later next year; 8pm is too late to finish work if I've other commitments. So I guess I'm self-proclaimedly temping.

I love it when my birthday comes arnd. It feels like a mini-festival to me. Like it's December 19th, so start smiling, everybody! Haha. It's sorta childish but I love the feeling. Will be wearing my contacts to work instead of glasses; I MUST put some real effort into looking good at least once a yr. And what btr day to do it then on my birthday, yah?

Sash's in India. I miss her! Oh well, Christmas will be here extremely soon, and she'll be back, thank god.

There are so many ppl I need to meet up with soon. And some of you, I don't even have your numbers on account of my handphone dying on me and my losing of all my contacts. :( If you read this, ppl, send me an sms, ok?

I don't even meet my best friend often. Lame, lame, lame.

Note to self: Don't take kindness, nor love, for granted.

I just recieved an email from Jobstreet wishing me a very happy birthday. Aww... hahaha. Oh, Deepers' was the first birthday greeting I got, in the form of a Friendster testimonial! Oh, and he's in India too. Lousy assholes, go to India for what? Especially at the time when everybody gets together for parties. Oh well.. it's not like Sash can come out whenever she wants to anyway.

I btr go sleep now, got work tmr. Thank god I work in the east. Oh, Mom AND Dad are screaming at me to go to bed. Such coordination! :-p

Toodles.

P.S: I can't wait to see what Jay's got for me! And sweetheart, like I said, I will love the present for sure, but I will love it even more if you told me what it is. *beams* Ok, stupid, I know. It's worth the shot tho. The suspense is KILLING ME!! *dies*
